How does carbon neutral printing work?
After an audit by natureOfficeUSA, the client will be able to calculate the emission values with the natureOffice online platform for individual printed products (e.g., business cards, note paper, brochures, magazines, newspapers, packaging). Through the purchase of certificates of climate protection, this amount of carbon dioxide can be offset in the overall balance.
The client's customer pays for the added costs and makes the final decision in favor of living climate protection. According to experience, the costs for this are approximately an average of 0.5 - 1.5 percent of the order value. If the client decides in favor of carbon neutral printing, the client can label printed matter with the logo "printed climate neutrally," which they receive from the print shop together with the unique ID number. The funds for the certificates are held temporarily by the print shop, then they are passed on via natureOffice directly to the respective developers of the carbon offset projects.
Which steps have to be taken?
After placing the order, the audit with an inventory of the necessary material properties and parameters of your printing house begins. With the data from this collection, natureOffice calculates the client's personal print-shop key and activates him/her as a user of our online platform "natureBalance."
How quickly can that be done?
According to experience, the collection of material, analysis and activation in the natureBalance system take approximately one business week. From the day the client places the order he/she can and should already talk about this new option with clients and alter marketing accordingly. natureOffice can support this process by providing marketing material and resources.
Which carbon offset projects are available and who chooses them?
natureOffice offers clients a handpicked portfolio of carbon offset projects from which they themselves or their clients are free to choose. Projects and partners are only included if they fulfill the high quality standards of natureOffice. For example, they must have the highest certifications, such as Gold Standard or CCB/CarbonFix to guarantee ecological as well as social sustainability.
What do I base my safety on?
Transparency and reliability are the two most important criteria for a commitment to voluntary climate protection. For example, every print order marked as climate neutral and handled via our "natureBalance" system has a unique ID number that can be verified through our system - even many years later. We only use carbon offset programs of the highest standards. Gold Standard, for example, is also supported by WWF (World Wide Fund For Nature).
What happens with the compensation funds?
The client pays the added costs directly with the invoice from the print shop. We settle with the print shops on a monthly basis and transfer the funds directly, and without additional charges, administration or handling fees, to the respective developers of carbon offset projects.
How do I label the printed matter?
When an order is placed climate neutrally, you have the right to use the natureOffice "printed climate neutrally" logo, e.g., on the back of a brochure.
Where do I get the logo?
You get the "printed climate neutrally" logo automatically, including the firmly reserved ID number in various language and layout versions, as a download in the natureBalance system directly after booking.
