Energy efficiency*

Still too much wood is beaten to burn it for cooking. Energy-efficient stoves can save up to 80% of wood compared to conventional stoves. This not only saves time because less wood has to be collected or saves money that would have to be spent on the purchase of fuel, but also helps to preserve the forest ecology in the long term.

Human health is improved due to the reduced air pollution from cooking with "clean" stoves. In Ghana e.g. According to WHO, around 16,000 people die prematurely each year from respiratory and cardiovascular diseases caused by the use of inefficient stoves.

In agriculture, for example, there are huge amounts of waste worldwide, such as coconut shells, green waste, grasses and other biowaste. Previous waste is now used to produce biogas via the process using gasification or oxidizing agents. The biogas, in turn, is used for the production of electrical energy or, for example, for cooking.

The further utilization of waste and residual materials is therefore important, otherwise unused quantities of biological waste material rotting itself and in turn emissions are triggered by fermentation and digestion processes.
