Hartelijk welkom bij NEDERLAND PLUS

Het project Nederland plus omvat het gebied van het Nationale Park De Biesbosch -
the largest fresh water area in Europe!

nature conservation in 9,000 hectares of
unparalleled river landscape

The De Biesbosch National Park conservation area (Biesbos), the largest freshwater source in Europe, is located in the North Brabant (Noord-Brabant) and South Holland (Zuid-Holland) provinces of the Netherlands. Separated by the estuary of the Waal and the Rhine, the Nieuwe Merwede and bordered in the South by the river Amer, the lowest section of the river Maas.

in times of yore ...

... and TODAY

Biesbosch was declared a National Park in 1994.

There is a lot to experience in the National Park today. One can travel by boat or canoe through winding creeks surrounded by willows, trekk along narrow paths and bike through open pastures teaming with waterfowl.

The National Park is a haven of peace and relaxation.

nederland plus is a certified
environmental management system

We have combined international Gold Standard certified climate protection with climate and environmental commitment in the De Biesbosch National Park. This combination has created the Nederland plus combination climate protection certificate.

While the actual compensation of your emissions takes place by Gold Standard or VCS certified carbon offset projects, by selecting Nederland plus with our partner the De Biesbosch National Park, you are at the same time supporting regional climate protection.

for a global problem

Interested visitors can learn about the region in the visitor center.

The Kyoto protocol recommends performance of climate protection where it can be implemented cost-effectively. In the meantime, however, there are sufficient reasons for more regional climate protection. We created the Nederland plus project on the encouragement of our clients, who wanted regional action in addition to climate protection projects initiated in third-world countries.

Facts about the project:

  • Project type: Combination certificate

  • Project name: Nederland plus
  • Project location: Netherlands and International (depending on selected carbon offset project)

  • Project standard: Gold Standard, VCS, CCBS (depending on selected carbon offset project)
  • Supplementary contribution: 5 EUR per certificate go directly to the De Biesbosch National Park

Die Nieuwe Dordtse Biesbosch
is a project...

... in which existing agricultural fields are transformed into 530 hectares of nature and recreation areas. This project was implemented on the authority of the province, the community and the Wasserverbands Hollandse Delta.

The objectives of the project are:

  • Improvement of leisure opportunities in the city.
  • Improvement of water quality and water volume.
  • Realization of an ecological connection between the Dordtse and the Sliedsrechtse Biesbosch.

The ecological connection will soon be established by the Elzen Noord, the Norderdiep zone and the Kop van’t land (springboard) and will strengthen the Netherland’s national network. This is an ecological connection zone of the so-called Biesbosch Natur (wet nature).

In order to achieve this, the water level in the original Polder landscape of the Noorderdiep zone is set to approximately one meter. As a result, the landscape will soon develop into an area where alternatingly reeds (swamp), open water, herbage and  fauna filled grassland and damp hay fields will settle.

White beech and ashwood will be planted in a few places with higher elevation.

So that recreational sportsmen can enjoy this nature reserve, a recreational network will be created in this area. The Zuidbuitenpoldersekade, which transverses the Noorderdiep zone from East to West will be the main axes of the new region. A continuous planting of nut trees is planned on that side.

There will soon be a higher and drier recreational area on the West sdie of the Noorderdiep zone, where scattered black poplars will be planted.

The new Dordtse Biesbosch should be ready at the end of 2018. Most of the planting will be started in the spring of 2018.

The National Park offers a variety of leisure possibilities.

City kids look for local recreation in the project region.
